Our Trip

Zach, Maggie, and I arrived safely back home in Houston yesterday afternoon. It was a whirlwind of a week but a really good one. I hadn't seen my family in well over a year and getting to see them plus several friends was such a treat. So, despite the fact that Zach had vertigo the entire time and now we are absolutely exhausted from the 3,000+ miles of driving, we had a great time. We were especially proud of our little traveler, Maggie. She was such a good girl!


Here are some of the highlights of the trip (in chronological order):

- Getting to see all of my nieces and nephews! I LOVE those kiddos! Love, love, love them!

- We got to meet our newest nephew, Colton, for the first time. He's over a year old and this was our first meeting.

- Celebrating Easter and my birthday with my extended family.

- Having a meal of morels and Zach getting to experience them for the first time. Yuuuummmmmyyy!!!

- Hanging out with my good friend Shannon and her super adorable girls. They have grown so much and are so full of life!

- Spending the evening with my best friend of forever, Amanda, and her husband and kids. They also made it out for my birthday dinner on Thursday. Such a special time with them.

- Visiting Ohio to see Kelly & Don plus Paige & Michael and getting to meet their baby Henry for the first time. It was a longer drive then we had expected but it was so worth it. Such a blessed time.

- Visiting Evansville. It was fun showing Zach around and sharing stories about those days with him. We also had dinner and got to hang out with Karen and Tracy (Ford). It was such a pleasant and enjoyable time. Maggie also met Dasher, Karen's dog. Dasher is half the size of Maggie but totally intimidated her. It was hilarious watching them play and interact.

- Staying in Henderson with Becky, Jason, Jonas, and Samson. We got to see their beautiful new home, spend some quality time in conversation, and enjoy the nice fenced in backyard as Maggie and Samson (especially Maggie!) ran around and expended lots of doggie energy. It was such a perfect ending to the visiting portion of our trip.

- On the way home we found out that the AC compressor on my car was broken. So, not only did we not have AC all the way back to Houston but it also meant that if it totally stopped working it would have a domino affect on other vital parts of the car. (I won't go into that because I'm not mechanical enough to explain it so that anyone would actually understand.) Not having AC wasn't that bad in regards to temperature (until we got near Texas, then it was pretty miserable) but the sound that rolled down windows makes when you are going 75+ mph was a little deafening. (The upside to this story will be a post of its own soon!)

So, here we are back in Houston! Today I have the day off and am trying to catch up on school reading and papers plus getting the house back in order. I also took Zach to the doctor and found out it is a viral infection causing the dizziness but will go away on its own...hopefully sooner rather than later.
